Project Summary

The PALETTE project’s main goal is to address this lack of cultural awareness and understanding of Europe’s diversity. We aim to provide youth workers with the tools and methods needed to inspire young people to appreciate and engage with other European cultures. The focus is not just on promoting travel but on encouraging curiosity and understanding, even from a local setting. Imagine how enriching it would be if young Europeans learned about ancient Greece, its philosophers, and the Parthenon. Or if they explored the ideas of the Enlightenment. Many don’t realize that these elements were crucial in shaping modern civilization. By exposing young people to such cultural contributions, they can begin to understand the deeper historical connections between European nations. Our goal is to make sure that these initial encounters with different cultures spark a genuine interest to dig deeper and learn more. While travel is an important component of cultural exchange, it isn’t the only way to engage with other cultures. Youth workers have the unique ability to create environments that foster curiosity and learning, encouraging young people to explore how European cultures are interwoven. They can help shape young minds to see the value of learning about other cultures. By incorporating activities, discussions, and creative projects, youth workers can help young people gain a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity and develop a stronger sense of belonging to the European community.
